  • New Orleans is the Academy.  Classes include 300 level bandleading, 200 level trio conduct; practicum in vocal accompaniment; 200 level repertoire classes; instant pot pressure cooking 101; making gumbo 101; space efficiency practicum.

  • Played at New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival 50th Anniversary with the Louisiana Repertory Jazz Ensemble.

  • Played for the French Quarter Festival with the Audacity Brass Band

  • I now possess an exquisite gumbo recipe.

This older Austin Statesman article features the recording session of the Bat City Six onto wax cylinders by Colin Hancock.

Nine days in South Korea with wonderful musicians. Hosted by a lovely couple, this swing dance festival lasted three full days. We played in two additional venues in advance of the dance event..  

We ate REALLY well.

Here's a video of the opening event.  Band starts at 11:20.

For this concert, I took stock choral arrangements and edited them liberally for playability with a jazz sextet of top-notch DC musicians. We played tunes from The American Songbook (which is the title of their cd).  Check out their title of my six-piece group.

While they were celebrating their 25th anniversary of performance, I was concurrently celebrating my own 40th on the same night:  March 10 (1978).
